Privacy Policy
Last updated October 20, 2026
This policy covers the Voltkit website at https://voltkitapp.com: its free calculators and guides. It explains what the site collects, why, who receives it, how long it's kept and what you can do about it. The Voltkit app for iPhone and Android has its own privacy policy.
Who runs the site
The site is made and published by Chirag Arora, under the name Chiaro Apps ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: hello@voltkitapp.com.
The short version
- What you type into a calculator never leaves your browser.
- Google Analytics runs only if you tap Accept in the cookie banner. Until then it isn't loaded and sets no cookies.
- We never sell your data and the site shows no ads.
What you type stays in your browser
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. The values you enter and the results are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not stored after you leave the page.
Analytics, only with your consent
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics. It asks every visitor, wherever you are. Until you tap Accept, Google Analytics is not loaded, sets no cookies and receives nothing. If you tap Reject, nothing changes.
If you accept, Google Analytics records:
- page views, with the page address but nothing after a
?or#, and the type of page (calculator, guide, home); - that a calculator was used (which one, never the values or the result);
- that an App Store or Google Play button was tapped, and where on the page;
- which theme was picked (system, light or dark);
- standard technical data Google collects with any page view: browser, device type, screen size, language, the site that sent you, and an approximate region worked out from your IP address;
- a random identifier stored in the
_gaand_ga_…cookies, so repeat visits can be told apart.
We use this to see which pages and calculators are useful and which pages lead people to the app. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, and the advertising consent signals are always sent as denied. We don't combine this data with anything else about you.
Legal basis: your consent (UK and EU GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), and, for the cookies, the consent required by the ePrivacy rules (in the UK, PECR).
Changing your mind
Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to accept or reject at any time. Withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics on this site straight away and deletes its cookies here. It doesn't undo what was collected before, which is kept as described under "How long it's kept". You can also clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser.
Cookies and storage on your device
| Name | Type | Purpose | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_… | Cookie (Google Analytics) | Tells visits apart. Only after you accept. | Up to 2 years, or until you withdraw |
vk-consent | Local storage | Remembers your Accept or Reject answer | Until you change it or clear site data |
vk-theme | Local storage | Remembers a light or dark theme you picked | Until you change it or clear site data |
vk-sticky-dismissed | Session storage | Keeps the "Get the app" bar closed after you dismiss it | Until you close the browser tab |
The three vk- items stay in your browser, are never sent to us, and only exist to do what you asked for.
Who receives data
- Google (Google Analytics), only after you accept. Google processes it on our behalf under its data processing terms. The data goes to the same Google Analytics property as the Voltkit app's usage statistics.
- Google (Firebase Hosting), which serves the pages. Like any web host it receives your IP address and browser details to deliver them and keep the service secure, which is necessary to show you the site (our legitimate interest).
- Apple and Google app stores, only when you tap a store button. The link carries a campaign label naming the page you came from, so we can see which pages lead to downloads. Their own privacy policies apply on their stores.
We never sell or rent your data, and we share it with anyone else only if the law requires it.
International transfers
Google may process data outside the UK and the EU, including in the US. Those transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long it's kept
Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically. Aggregated reports (counts with no identifier) can be kept longer. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to answer them.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR (and similar laws elsewhere, such as in California) you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@voltkitapp.com and we'll answer within one month. The website never asks for your name or email, so the analytics data is tied only to the random cookie identifier; withdrawing consent and clearing the cookie is the quickest way to cut the link. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Children
The site is written for electricians and isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, or the higher age your country sets for consenting to online services (for example, 16 in some EU countries). If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. We won't start collecting anything new under the consent you gave for what is described here.
